I have a 2007 A8 with MMI version 46.1.0, and equipped with AMI.

I would like to be able to use my Iphone 3GS as an Ipod and hook it up to the AMI. When attached, the MMI displays a message that says that the device may not be hooked up correctly and the MMI will not play music from the Iphone 3GS. The Iphone displays a message about it being connected to an unsupported accessory. The iphone appears to charge via the cable, however.

Does anyone know if the Iphone 3GS can be used as an ipod with my particular hardware and software? Perhaps an AMI update of some kind???

 

I've used my 3G with the MMI on my 2008 A8 and it worked OK. I just ignored the message.

I've seen some other posts that indicate their 3G works with the MMI despite the error messages (like yours), but my 3GS Iphone definitely doesn't work with the AMI, will not play the ipod content, and will not display any ipod content on the MMI screen.

Wondering if there is a way to check or update AMI firmware if that's the issue...
