Default Overheating 2006 A8L

So after my car was parked for about 1.5 hours from a lunch appointment I jumped in and the AC didn't get cold, I had only had driven it about 2 miles and it 93 degrees out. I looked down at temp and it was in between 3/4 and the H in Red last bar. I quickly turned on the defrost and set the temp to High this helped alot and the temp went down a little less then 3/4 as I babied it home. Checked oil and didnt find any other fluids in oil, Coolant reserve was full. At idle the car stays at half temp reading even with the AC blowing full blast but as soon as I start driving it will shoot up like an old man on Viagra. Thermo Stat or Water Pump?. The fans do stay on and work full blast fyi..... To get to my luncheon appointment was 20 miles and the Car ran perfect with the AC blowing cold as cold, it was afte lunch this debacle happened.
2006 A8L USA Black only 46,500 miles still under 6/100 warranty Thank You God

I put my money on the Thermostat first or faulty fan motor/fan control module second.

What is it about A8's and their Yugo-quality thermostats? ....put my 3rd one in before 100K miles.

It has nothing to do with the quality of the thermostat, it has to do with the design of the engine.

That's it? What's the punchline? ..."All you have to do is jack up the thermostat and pull another engine under it."

I don't doubt you...I've never had an engine, at any price, go through so many of em. If this has already been touched on, I missed it...So, please continue. Always thirsty for knowledge...

I would also like to know how the engine is at fault for a sticking thermostat....
I mean considering all audi engines suffer from sticking thermostats audi must do doing something VERY wrong..

That's not what the A8 technician from the A8 hot line told me my friend. They said to me that the thermostats and location of them on the engine is literally utter crap.
