Rebuilding and tuning a 4.2 v8 40v
I'm new to the audiforum so I hope this is in the correct section.
I have a audi A8 4.2 V8 40V 310bhp. Engine code AQF. I want to strip and recondition the engine and wanted to know the best place to buy new parts for the rebuild. Also thinking of tuning it so any ideas or anything would be helpful too. Thanks.

Not an engine code offered in the U.S., but looks pretty much the same as an AKB or AUX U.S. engine.
Parts? Depends on where you are...many popular US suppliers don't ship overseas.
Strip down how far? Recondition in what way? ...without specific failures, many things are best left alone...not like a lot of engines from the past. These engines are good for 100's of thousands of miles, except for a few items that may fail at higher mileage.
Unless you have compression loss, knocking, unexplained misfiring or similar, oil and coolant mixing, burning a lot of oil, etc....regular maintenance items are all that most tend to.

Thanks Silverd2, The story is this, I've had an audi tt for a couple years and love it, my partner drives it most the time so I've decided to build a kit car, its a mid engine rear wheel drive and loving audi for many years have decided to use an A8 engine. The kit will be a brand new build to get a new registration. The DVLA allows 1 part on the car to be used, which is usually the engine. However, it has to be reconditioned to manufactures specification hense the strip down. It doesnt really specify how much of a strip down is needed or what exactly is a manufactures spec recon. Anyway, any info on parts etc is good.
Thanks
Thanks
