Default Rebuilding 1.8T

I'm currently rebuilding my 1.8T, I have new main cap and connecting rod bearings, rings, and gaskets. I've looked everywhere for main cap bearing clearence's when plastigaging. I installed one and it was in between .001 and the next size up, is that good? I torque'd it to 43 ft/lb's and did an extra 90 degree turn, and then reinstalled with assembly lube on the inside of the bearings. This is correct, right?

Talk to FASTER or redline380 - either can answer that for you easily.

Bentley calls for clearance between .01mm and .05mm, wear limit is .12mm.

Roughly .00039", .0019", and .0047", respectively.

Do you mean .001, .005, and .012 respectively? .12 is a pretty big gap LOL

GOOO yes lol. Sorry!! Shouldn't be posting about things this precise before I have coffee. The Bentley specs were in mm, not thousandths. :shifty:

Will correct the original post. Sorry guys!

Are the thrust washers installed with the 3rd main cap, or do you set them in place with the crank?

Can anyone tell me if this is oriented right? Is this for the distributor? This is right next to the 4th cylinder in the corner.

You don't have a distributor, that's the intermediate shaft that drives the oil pump.
