Can someone recommend a remote starter for a 2011 A8L? Ideally something that could be used through the existing key remote.

Directed Electronics - Security & Remote Start | Home Theater | Satellite Radio | Car Audio & Video My car audi guy said that alot of the new remote starts have the availability to use your current remote and you can even by an module to start it using your iPhone. I'm sure you can check with a local audio shop in your area that carries these. Hope it helps a little.

Dealer said don't do it as the audi electronics don't play nice with remote starts...

I went to a few local places and called Directed Electronics for our 11 q5 and they didn't have an interface module out for it...


One local guy said give me $700+ labor and maybe I can figure it out

I chose not to be the guinea pig !

I doubt it, think of all the proprietary security one would have to circumvent!

 

I read about one on the A6 forum at AW.
It involved gluing a valet key to the unit - not an ideal setup IMHO.

It would probably be next to impossible as snapdragon said.

 

Thanks for the feedback guys. The car will sit right outside my office window during the day and I liked being able to remote start my prior vehicles at the end of the day so they where heated or cooled when i got in. Have become spoiled and soft as I have gotten older.

Not a deal breaker though, love the car.
