replacing rear air struts

Anyone done this that has any tips? The new struts I have seem to be completely extended and I am having trouble getting them in

They usually are tied or bound in the compressed position. Bolt the top in before cutting the temporary bindings. They should slowly extend allowing you to slip the lower bolt in place.
