Default Satellite radio & back up camera questions

I was under the impression that all 2004 A8s came equipped with a back-up camera. Mine however doesn't. Which option package included the camera?

Also, is the '04 XM and/or Sirius satellite-ready? If not Sirius, any recommendations regarding the installation of an external Sirius receiver? Specifically- how to hard-wire it into the audio system and how/where to mount the antenna?

Thanks.

Back up cameras weren't installed on the A8 until 06, the 04 model sucks IMO, plus it has more problems or (bugs) that the earlier models don't have.

The A8 is pre-wired for either XM or Sirius, but you have to buy the $500 XM or Sirius module from audi and have them install it in order for it to work. The module gets mounted next to everything else in the driver's side trunk. The antenna and wiring already exists in your car currently.

Auditech79: So if I have a Sirius Sportster, can it be wired directly into the antenna and everything else in the trunk? What does that entail? Thanks.

No, it has to be integrated into the fiber optic data loop, the module has a fiber optic connector which you need. Plus the system has to be coded after that.

Thanks for your input. I'm bummed that I need to get the more expensive part, but it will of course work better--- and look better (invisible) in the long run.

Can you provide the part number for the Sirius module? I will try to find one through Audi as well as alternate sources. Thanks.

I don't know the part number, but a call to audi parts dept.with your VIN number can fix that. Just tell them you want to know the part number for the Sirius module.
