Question Stiff steering one direction

I have been having a problem with my steering in my 2001 A8 4.2 after visual inspection of the components (rack) boot ect i dont see any leaks although i have only had the car a year the steering has gone from getting stiff from time to time To being totally hard to steer right turning left doesn't feel bad . Any suggestions would be helpful before i take it to the stealership I have clean the filter in the pump but that didnt help. My next task is to flush the system
whata you think
Greg

Double check the control arms and make sure anything isn't blocking it. If everything looks ok you need a new rack, chances are the valve inside the rack is stuck and only allowing the fluid to go to one side of the rack.

No, if you had electronic steering like the A3 then yes. Plus the steering system would have a fault code stored.

I'm having a similar issue.. only difference is, mine does that when I try turning left. It only happens in the morning when the car is cold. And only does that for a little bit. Have you found the reason why this is happening?
