How do you take the coil connectors off without cracking them?
I learned my lesson or so I though on my A6, but today I went to disconnect them on my 4.2 and I mean ever so lightly I began to push the little lever and SNAP Damit! I cable tied the ones that broke so they would wiggle out but they are so brittle. How much of a pain is it to replace all of them with the harness? does anyone know how much the harness is?

To release an audi connector, you have to push the connector in, pull on the tab slightly, then pull it off gently. If you just pull on the tab it will break off.
You can buy the connector for the specific coil, but chances are they won't come off. I have two broken ones on my 1.8T and they never fall off. The entire wiring harness is like $700-$1,000.

I guess it's just one of those things I can't be any gentler with them. Could be the Florida heat It seems to destroy anything plastic. Thanks I'll have to work around them for now. I did have a misfire on the one I broke on my A6 but I put some dielectric gease in it and that was that.

Yeah, that will work too. Even when the tab breaks sometimes it will still snap in. In which case you can use a screwdriver and pry into the body where the connector meets the coil, and lightly pull it up until you hear a click, then you can pull it off.
