Default switching rims

hi all
i currently have 19' rims on my 2005 a8l. is it safe to switch to use 17' rims? (want an extra set of rims for winter tires but since only using it for a few months a year, want cheapness)

reason i ask is because the brakes look pretty large. scared that smaller rims will contact the brakes.

also what is the smallest rim size i can safely switch to? thanks.

My 05 has the 19 inchers, but my spare is the 17 inch size. They did have the 17 inch wheel as standard option tho.

The recommended rim size for front wheel is 9.0" whereas for rear its 11.5”. Changing the rims in AUDI is far more costlier and is never suggested so.
