Default Key fob works inconsistently after repair at body shop

I have a 2012 Q5 that got rear ended a couple of months ago. The damage took a while to fix and got the car back last week. The remote keyless entry seems to be acting up. It does not unlock the car until I get very close to it. When in the car, it takes a while to recognize the key. It is better when the car has been driven for a while. I changed the battery but the behavior did not change. The system was fine before the accident

Took the car to an Audi dealer. They ran a scan and said the Cassie system seems to be fine and recommended a key fob change. Over the weekend, I tried my spare key fob and did not see any change in behavior.

Any thoughts on if anyone has seen this issue before. I am sure the key fobs do break down and this may be a coincidence but this could also be a lazy diagnosis...

Thanks

Default

95% of the time it is the battery inside the fob. Test them to be sure they are at 3v. if it shows 2.9v they may act intermittently.
