I just picked up an 07 q7 and it has a slow fuel leak on the drivers side around the fuel tank. Any tips as to what could be causing this and what the fix may be?

 

Fuel filter, if you smell a strong oder of gasoline in the back seat or back driverside passenger door, the fuel filter is located under the seat and needs to be replaced at 65K miles, mine gave out at 90K miles and was not aware of this. I looked up the maintenance time frame, it seemed that the previous owner no longer wanted to pay the high price maintenance. I bought mine on partsgeek.com for 149.89 + shipping (24.95), typical price is $330+ depending where you go. The part is not easy to get to unless you have the right tools. Took me 2hrs to tear down, take the old part and replace the new one. There will be some complications afterwards with Fuel Regulator as the ECU tries to reset itself.
