2012 Q7 Power Relay
Hi All
I have recently noticed that the main power relay, J317, does not switched of when I switch the ignition of.
After about 10 min of switching the ignition of, the relay switches off and on with about 10seconds intervals, this never stops.
The OBDII scanner says the relay is a problem, although I do not agree, because it only reacts on a command from the ECU and it do close and open.
When I measure the 12V on the coil and the input contact terminal, the 12V stays there as suspected per the wiring diagram.
The 0V originates from the ECU and this is in my opinion where the issue is.
When I plug the relay out and use extension wires to only connect the coil, the relay stays on.
My opinion is that an input to the ECU which is probably energized by the main power relay, is at fault.
This is why the relay will de-energize, see a wrong input and then re-energize.
Is there any way to see what the ECU see on the different inputs or what the logic of the ECU look like.
If I know what inputs drive this relay, I can start by eliminating them one by one.
Can anybody assist with a way to get more info than the OBDII scanner or a way forward?
Will the Audi/VW dealership have tools to read more parameters?
Thanks very much in advance.
