Thinking About Purchasing a 07 Q7 Want To Know If There Are Any Known Problems
I am thinking of purchasing a 2007 Q7, however I am a bit concerned about purchasing the 07 model since it was the first year released. Have there been any problems to justify purchasing an 08 (instead of the 07 model)? I have yet to decide if I'll get the V6 or V8 models. So long story short: any serious common issues with the 07 models
I am debating between a 07 Q7 or a 07 Range Rover. Anyone care to compare?
Thanks!

Hi,
greetings from a happy 07 Q7 3.0 TDI S-Line owner. Cannot comment about other engines, but 3.0 TDI is a great engine, maybe a few bhp short if you really like to drive fast (nothing a good chip-tuning to 278 bhp can't fix).
Otherwise, great car, no known problems. I tried the BMW X5 before purchasing the Q7, and was left unimpressed. Don't get me wrong, it's a great car, but IMHO no comparison to Q7 in terms of luxury (I hated the X5's interior), space and (again IMHO) exterior styling. Also, be sure to get the air suspension for a much smoother ride.
As for the Range Rover, well, it's not in the same league really. My uncle had one and bought a Toyota Land Cruiser instead. Not really reliable, high consumption, inferior styling etc. He told me that Toyota is a much better car.
Regarding 08 model, there are some minor improvements over 07, but nothing drastic.

The only problem i have encountered with the Q7 so far is the brake wear, it tends to wear out the rear brake pads by 20k. I have no idea why it wears the rears out faster than the fronts or why it wears them so fast either. Other than that it has a couple of recalls for minor things like changing out the cam sensors and a seat switch change out.
