Exclamation 01 Audi TT Choking problem when giving it gas. Please HELP.

Hey everyone, i have a 2001 Audi TT (AWP) and it recently started choking out on me whenever i give it gas, it almost sounds like its miss firing. Iv'e replaced coil ignitions, spark plugs, MAF sensor, New KO3 Turbo, New turbo hosing, and wiring harness. I dont know what else to do im completely stuck. Ive read maybe the fuel pump, temp sensor, or fuse box above the battery could be causing the issues but im not sure. If someone can please help me out i would be great full. thank you.

Many have had this issue....it can be soon many things......can you scan for codes with a VAG or have AutoZone do it for you?

yeah i've taken it to a Audi Auto house (Sun Motors) where they had the number 2 mechanic in the country take a look at it and he was puzzled. He told it could be several different vacuum hoses that are leaking and causing it to choke. He also mentioned that the O2 senor was coming up when he scanned the car. My car has been in the shop for about a month now and no one can seem to figure out whats wrong with it.

I'd start with the simple things. replacing vacuum hoses is not that difficult, and finding a leak isn't either, you use a smoke machine to do it, we do it in our garage all the time, and takes about 10 minutes. WHAT ARE THE CODES? if you can post all of them here, it would be very beneficial....does the choking go away when you rev it up?

You have the #2 Audi mechanic and he 'thinks' there's a vacuum leak somewhere? Not trying to be an ***, but you know....if this happened from ONE DAY TO THE NEXT, personally I would've started with the FUEL FILTER....The codes on your car will lead you in the right direction, so if I had them I could diagnose it better.....

If it chokes all the time and happened from one day to the next, have they/you replaced the fuel filter? Also, on the fuel pump itself there is a filter that can get clogged from bad gas etc over time....and cause this....and believe it or not, the fuel pump/filter will NOT throw any codes.....I generally try and keep it simple. Checked pressure on fuel rails? More information would be helpful...and the codes.....

The fuse box tray would throw a code and you can visually see if it is going bad....I had to do it on my 01 TT as well.....but wasn't for a choking issue.....it was for an overheating issue.....

just trying to help

This may sound a little odd, but since it started choking, what was your fuel tank level at and have you put more gas in it since them?

I honestly always have put 91 octane in my Audi's others say using a lower octane is okay...but depends on the gas and where you get it at....

Here's a recent thread I was a part of, it ended up being the ECM itself...similar issue, just not a TT.....

My used 2001 did that when I bought it, turned out to be about 5 vacuum leaks and then a code-errored front O2 sensor.
Considering you've been in there wiggling things, you might have added some new vacuum hose cracks. Replace the whole vacuum mess, then see what codes you get.
It's worth it for the peace of mind: 15-year-old plastic in a hot environment cracks a lot.
