Default 2003 Audi TT MAF cleaning

Has anybody cleaned their MAF before?

I have been searching all day for a "how to" and found a lot of different versions. Due to the Torx T20 having that "key" in the middle of it, I cannot pull the MAF apart to clean it. Do i just clean THROUGH the honey comb filter that is on either side? Thats one of the write ups i saw.

Any info would be greatly appreciated!

go to a sears or a tool store and buy a set of security torx (thats the name for the type with the security pin in the center)
I used carb cleaner once... but now I use denatured alcohol.

I just removed my MAF (2 screws and clamp and disconnect), got some MAF cleaner and sprayed it through the grates on either side. Set it down on a paper towel, watched the dirt collect, let it dray off and replaced it...

I was too lazy and cheap to get a security torx that day, but I didn't think my MAF was too terribly dirty either - kust had to remove it anyway to install an intake, and figured - what the heck, lemme give it a few shots for good measure... ;-)

Easy stuff!
