do your carfaxes list your 180's as 5 speeds? Mine seriously lists as a 6 speed H.O. Turbo. To me that means 5+R and it has a ko3s turbo.

The 1.8L H.O. (high output) is the 225 hp version. The 1.8L T is supposedly just the 180hp version. Your car fax is incorrect, although that is not surprising seeing that your vehidle is an odd duck straight from the factory. I wonder if they will buy your vehicle back from you for giving false information

my car is so wierd. I wish carfax or audi would buy it back so I could get a 225 or something. It lists my car totally incorrectly, and honestly... I thought it was the 225 when I bought it, because it listed as the HO turbo and they had the "official" carfax printout right in the window. By official, I mean it was mailed or something, because it is non-standard paper and has a stamped seal.

I wonder how my bluebook for the car works like if it was totalled... Would I get a shiny newer 225?

I'd go after carfax...
I wouldn't expect anything though.

You'd probably have better luck taking the dealer to small claims court for the difference in book value between the two models.
I'm about to start a small claims suit against the moron who hit me. Filing fee is only like $20, and you don't need a lawyer. (it doesn't hurt, but you don't need one)

$17,715 - 2002 180Q
$19,115 - 2002 225Q

The difference is more than $1500 on a 2002...
That would justify a day in court for me.
If you have the window sticker bring it to court, I see absolutely no reason why you wouldn't walk out with $1500 in your pocket.

Yeah, but I like the dealer - I don't think it was dishonesty. In fact, I think it says on the paperwork a 180 somewhere. I thought it had the k04 when I bought it though because I thought that is what HO turbo meant. I thought the dealer screwed up when they were selling it and it was a 225, because it had the factory duals, and well... it was a 1.8 HO Turbo 6 speed according to carfax. I guess I could take CarFax to small claims somehow... I mean, you can still enter the VIN and pull up a 6 speed HO turbo. :-)

At audiworld we had quite the conversation - anything from an engine swap to an AWP to a trans from a 180q. I think I just have a really wierd build. If I knew how to truly decode the vin, I'd get down to the root of it myself.

carfax probably only warantees against the accuracy of the insurance acident claims, and mileage.

they will tell you it's the dealer's fault, not theirs
