After having my TTR for a week, I just got a big surprise.

Default After having my TTR for a week, I just got a big surprise.

I was installing an IPOD adapterreplacing the6 disk changer today, and I found a strangecable going through the disk changer cubbie hole. This was obviously aftermarket and was not put there by Audi. I followed this wire and it led to inside of the REAR Driver's side taillight, and to what looked to be a small black box that said "sensor" on it. I then followed the other end of the cable and it went up into the dash. When I was looking under the dash I found a very inconspicuous switch/****. I turned this **** and it clickedbutnothing happened, but then I turned the ignition key and my dash lit up like Christmas along with a chorus of beeps, buzzes and chirps. This was obviously a self test. I realized that I had a hidden, built in Radar Detector. Now, I needed to find out what model it was so I could download the manual. There are 2 RED LEDs next to my tach that light up to show status of the detector, and to visually show any radar detection.
I removed the bottom portion of the Dash, and I found the control Module. It is the K40-2000 Stealth Radar Detector (http://k40.com/unde_main.html) This thing is SWEET! It has hidden speakers behind the vents that make certain noises depending on mode and if it detects something.
I am not even sure the dealership where I purchased the car even knew about this thing. It has 3 sensors, one in the back, and two in the front.
Here are some pictures I took. I gotta make a video because the self test that this thing goes through every time I turn the car on is amazing to hear and watch LOL.

So how do you get out of that one if you get caught?

Well, I have done alot of research into this model of Radar Detector. Apparently it is undectable to VG-2 (Radar Detector Detectors). Also, it has a guarantee not to get a ticket LOL. I suppose if I do get pulled over I can just turn it off while I am stopping and the officer will not be the wiser. This Detector is very stealth...the only thing that you can see is the front laser detector, under the licenese plate, but you really need to bend down and look as it is not easily seen. I have already been out on the road with it and it seems to work great...I have picked up 3 different speed traps beforeI got to them.

Upon Further research into this model today I found that the first picture I posted above is not a sensor, buta laserdefuser which actually deactivates/jams any laser gun an officer would use to point at my license plate. No wonder the dealership did not tell me about this thing!

The detector may be hidden from the cops, but a jammer is more likely to raise suspicion. Good luck with it!

Oh, one more thing to think about, I'm pretty sure its a tip-off that you have a detector when a cop shoots you with radar/laser from behind, and immediately see's your brake lights light up. I remember someone telling me they got a detector ticket in VA from something like that.

I'm not against detectors/jammers, just tellin ya not to put all your confidence in it.

Oh I'm not...I don't consider this my license to speed. I just think it's cool. I live in Northern Virginia and with the traffic around here I get few chances to "speed" as it is... radar detector or not LOL

I have terrible luck with getting pulled over, and 95% of the time, I'm unintentionally speeding.

Sole exception it seems, is driving down to H2O and back, where we do some blatently stupid driving, with no cops in sight (knock on wood). I'd honestly rather not, but when you're in a pack of 5 cars, and only the lead car knows where to go, its hard to decide against it and get left behind.
