Default Aftermarket Alarm??

Searched the forums, but didn't find anything solid.....

As a proud new owner of an 03 Coupe and living in NYC, I want to make sure I lock her down as tight as possible from sticky fingers. Most of my experiences with aftermarket alarms were not pleasant. However, having the ability to be alerted via remote when someone is trying to jack your car or your rims is something I'm interested in.

Has anyone went the aftermarket route? If so, any recommendations? Any other ideas? (besides the dog and 9MM)

I'm not sure how you would go about an after market alarm on any audi.
Seeing as the alarm controls are built right in with the key...
Talk with your local dealer, and see if they can throw any insight into the mix.

I had an Autopage alarm on a car of mine, it is a complex install if you want to utilize all of the features and I don't think I would let just anyone hack into my german (complex) wiring. Make sure you trust the shop and they have performed the install on a TT before IMHO.

Where is the horn for the factory alarm? It sure is a wimpy lil bugger. Sounds like the road runner from the cartoon.

I'm not comfortable with the aftermarket alarm route, after investigating, there are too many hacks out there and I dont want them touching my car.
I'm thinking along the lines of just a simple kill switch now, that would probably serve me best.

I had put a kill switch in my Honda CRX Si back in the day; I actually wired a switch to the fuse for the fuel pump. One day I left the car parked on Central Park West in the 70's for only 30 minutes as I had to run into a building. It was 12 noon on a Sat with a million people walking around, jogging ect. I came back to the car, found the door lock popped, ignition pulled and my dash chopped up. They couldnt get the car because they couldnt find the switch, so I won that day.

Anyways, can anyone point me in the right direction of what works best for the TT? As I new to the Audi world, I'm apprehensive to start splicing wires just yet! LOL...
Thanks!

Go get chipped, along with the 91/93 program they can install a security program.
The security program "kills" the car when it's turned off. You make a pin # and enter it thru the cruise control stalk (at least that's the way APR does it.
This kinda sounds like what you're looking for, minus the splicing of any wires.

The method I just explained does not interfere with the stock alarm system.
