When I was in sales we had a beetle that had the airbag light come on. It was the ignitor for the air bag it was like 600 and something to get fixed.

 

have had air bag issues last week prior to the air bag light staying on when someone would sit in the back seat the air bag light would go on when there was nobody in the seat the light would go off,vag scan said seat sensor was bad this week the air bag light stayed on, ran another scan and front air bag igniter was the fault. If light goes on and off it is likely the seat sensor if light stays on it is usually air bag control module ,igniter or other issue. Need to run vag com scan to determine your problem

 

Where is the airbag module located (2002 q coupe)? I'd like to see if perhaps mine may be loose at the module, since under the 2 front seats it's still tight.
