Don't want to rain on your parade, but a car with almost 100k miles on it and 7 or 8 years old is unlikely to get the attention of the NHTSA. It is reasonable to expect component failures under those conditions. I had a '95 Honda Accord that had a failed speedo and never would imagine that Honda would cover it. I don't know what to tell you other than it's gonna probably cost you more than $800 to even attempt to pursue this through litigation. It sucks, but your reasonable choices are to fix it yourself, pay to have it fixed, or sell the car. No court is going to require a car company to warrant their product indefinitely.

FYI: I removed the above post because I had not cleared it with counsel for Audi first. Do not take the removal of my post as an indication that there is any change in the settlement.
