Default Audi performance questions

Hey guys, I'm new to the forums and all but I just wanted to ask some questions regarding what I can do to upgrade my Audi.

Firstly, I have a red 2002 Audi TT 225. In regards to the performance though, I was wondering what are some of the simple things i can do to upgrade my car. When I say simple, I mean things like Cold Air Intake, Short Ram, etc. Basically I'm just looking to do less expensive upgrades before somethings big. But I would like some opinions on what would be best to do first, then after that upgrade and so on.

The good news is, theres a ton of things you can do to these cars, the bad news is, you bought an expensive car, 'cheap' mods are rare. I paid $70 for longer lug bolts to hold my rims w/ spacers a few months ago.
CincyTT has been touting his resistor mod as the low cost alternative to chipping, he's got a bunch of info on that if you're interested, you'll need a manual boost controller, but you can be running a few more pounds of boost, and consequently, a few more ponies, for a bit over $100 I think, compared to a $500 chip that takes care of everything automatically. I'd personally go for the chip, but I'll leave the decision up to you.

You can check out www.modshack.info for some other goodies, again, its not going to be as cheap as your general cold air intake or something, but these mods were designed for the TT, and they're quality, so you do get your moneys worth.

Haha, yeah well I knew It's not a cheap car to upgrade, I just meant the cheaper of the upgrades like chip vs. turbo. So the manual boost controller or the chip would be the best for a first choice of a mod?

You mention wanting an intake. Well the TT intake is pretty good, but if you want one get the modshack it's what pretty much everyone uses and is fairly easy to install. A simple alternative though is to simply upgrade the filter. I have an HKS drop in foam filter that I got for $20The best bang for your buck though is to first buy a chip. I recommend the APR, but a lot of people like GIAC and Revo. I bought an APR bc I live within driving distance of their facility so I didn't have to pay shipping. The chips are also pretty easy to install. Literally, anyone can do it. Combined with a 2.5" exhaust or even a 3" (Neuspeed, APR, Greddy, and others make exhaust in one or both of these sizes), and a slightly cold spark plug. A gain of up to about 30-40bhp can be gained. Plus with many of the chips you can switch bt modes._
The only other mods you might want at the bolt on level are an upgraded divertervalve or a an intake tube. Some people have broken them. I have not though and my car runs fabulously with the stock dv valve.

For suspension their are a few options. First, is to simply upgrade your springs and shocks. The cars usually handle pretty well and wo't have alignment issues. The other more expensive but better option is to purchase coilovers, they are awesome but cost hundreds more and require a special alignment kit. The other think most TT gus do is upgrade the rear sway bar to reduce or altogether eliminate understeer. You can purchase either the 19mm or 21mm bar (The H&R 21mm bar will be my next mod!)

Also make sure you check out the FAQ at the top of the post. It should answer most questions.

You need a boost guage (which you should have anyways), a mbc (which helps regulate boost better than a n75 anyways), and a diode which is under a $1.00 yes 1 dollar. So total cost is stuff you should spend anyways and the time involved is no more than a few hours for a average installer. And if you want a stock program (like charged in a chip) you just take out the mbc and run strait n75.

The whole reason i promote this is because i personally never planned on keeping the stock turbo so why pay for programming for it (just need to replace the blown gt28r). After doing it to mine and my brothers car, we both feel that this is a great alternative to being chipped.

Not to be a dick, but most of the questions that you are asking will be solved in the FAQ at the top of the TT page. The only thing that is not covered is the diode writeup.
