I have a used, manual Audi TT 2001. I got it in August, and it now has about 77,000 miles on it. It has had a recent oil change, the timing belt was replaced recently before I purchased it, and the CarFax on it were normal.

I have recently had an issue with the car, however..

When I start the car, it fluctuates between the lowest RPMs (between 0-10), and the temperature is all way the down to cold. I can feel the car sort of..lurching back and forth as I try to drive and switch into first gear. Once, it even shut off.

This happened a few times, but it was eventually fine by the time I got it going.

However - I noticed it starting to have some problems even up at higher speeds.

Does anyone have ANY tips whatsoever? The check engine light also came on. I would greatly appreciate any and all suggestions here.

 

Zip over to your local autozone and have them scan it (they do it for free) and print out the codes. then, check here for code breakdown.

It may be something as simple as needing coilpacks.
