Battery & Alternator gone bad!??!?!!?'
I'd really like to do this myself for the expirience. I hate having that question.. How the heck did they do that? If I can't get this thing running within a week or two, I will bite the bullet and charge my VISA. Sucks after I already spent $300 just for the alt and battery...
*Update*
I was able to get a voltage reading at the alternator (while the car was running) from the small wire that plugs in at the top. Best reading I could get, 9.88-9.90 volts.... Does that sound about right?

Well, after looking at everything possible, I decided to take the alternator back out and test it again. Turned out to be bad... I'm not sure if the other one got burnt out due to a short but it was good. I got everything back together and after charging the battery, I turned the car on. The average voltage while the car was on, was 13.60 volts. So how does that sound?
I also forgot to add.... the black wire with the 150A fuse on the battery cover is HOT to the touch. I don't think you can hold it in your hand for 15-20 seconds...it's HOT!!

I was reading through this forum and im having similar problems... My alternator has gone bad and i noticed the red sapphire could get some good prices on an alternator.. If your willing to pass that off to me please pm me thank you....
Sounds like an electrical short to ground. An exposed wire touching periodically on something would cause exactly what you're describing. If the electricity doesn't go where it's supposed to, you would get warning lights. 15+v sounds waaay to high to me. I believe it should be no higher than ~14.5v It definitely sounds like something arcing to me. If it touches the metal while standing still, but not while moving, then this would support my theory. If the wire touched metal twice while moving, it would give the warning twice like you said. Check for exposed wires around the body or engine block.
well mr projlighting..... we are on the same boat exactly the same problem and i mean exactly.. this just happ to me the 4th of july IM sure by now you already fixed your problem. did you notice that the red battery light would go on after driving through a bump on the road?? that makes me think that i have a loose cable somewhere.. if you already fixed your problem any help is more than welcome!!! thank you and good luck to you hope you got it fixed!!
I dont have any help here, I assume you ahd it pulled for codes too? I just wanted to chime in that it must be the holiday weekend. I went to start my car and it was totally dead, I figured my car alarm had gone off while I was away for the holiday, I popped the hood to jump it and somehow my ground cable was loose :-P Needless to say, I just tightened the nut and was happily on my way, sorry your solution cant be that simple, but good luck.
