Battery Light question.
Hey all,
Just a quick question that I'm sure someone has seen or experienced at some point. A few weeks ago I started the car to warm up...in Vermont so its cold out there. After the car started to warm up in temps I revved the car up (no reason as to why I did that...just wanted to hear my exhaust I guess) When the car reached about 4k rpms the battery light came on and the car seemed to hesitate slightly. I let off the gas and the engine made a quick stutter then ran normally with the light going off. After a few times of repeating this I started checking connections and what not. After a couple weeks I thought that maybe my accessory belt was getting loose and had a tbelt job done including that belt. I thought everything was good to go and everything was great for a couple weeks.
Yesterday I was getting on the interstate and decided to really push it due to a short on ramp and crazy traffic. I hit 5th gear and the battery light came on. I looked down and let the car just coast with the clutch still engaged. Yes I was going at a slightly excessive speed lol. After about 45 seconds I shifted into 6th gear and the light went out. I would normally guess alternator/battery but they are both within 2 years old and the car runs normal and the battery seems to charge properly. I don't have an issue with starting the car or normal driving. It seems that it's just when I rev it up past the 4k mark that I see that symptom.
Other than that I am happy to say I passed the 250k mile mark a couple months ago and the car still runs amazingly (besides this of course)
Thanks for the help.
Eric

Eric,
I'm going to say this to you, as long as you have your radio code, do what I would do on every other car, start the car, disconnect the battery, if it dies, it's your alternator most likely.
I put a new alternator in my Son's van a year ago, he had the same issue you did (mind you it's a GM), it even died on the side of the road a few times, but when he wiggled the ALT connections it fired up, I had the same thought as you, it's ONLY a year old...so I pulled it out, went to Autozone, alternator tested fine...but I figured what the hell, bought a new one....installed it....guess what, it's been running fine ever since....kind of odd, but that's my .02, always keep it simple.....at a certain RPM threshold, you are pushing more amps into your alternator......I'm going to guess, it probably could be your Alternator.....
