Default boost gauge help

I have just hooked up my boost gauge into the FPR vacuum hose. Now I have never used a boost gauge before so Im not sure how they are suppose to act. Mine is reading about 15 to the left side (vacuum) while in idle. When I drove it, the readings stayed on the left side at about 17. When I accelerated hard the readings went to the right side (pressure and went to 17 in 3rd gear and 18 in 4th gear but they didnt remain constant they dropped off quickly. I thought a MBC was suppose to keep the boost constant. I have my boost set for about 18 - 19 psi. Does this sound right for a boost gauge to act? Thanks.

Yup sounds like you hooked it up right. You will never maintain constant boost. Only when excellerating. When I am maintaining a consistant speed, I run around 15 hg on the Vaccume, as soon as I press the gas, depending on how hard I press the gas, the gauge jumps into boost. This is a normal operating system. Your MBC, just changes how long your boost valve remains open thus allowing more boost to be produced when in the boost stage of driving, but as soon as you lift your foot everything shuts down, because the car needs to be able to decelerate. Hence the DV installed to take all of that extra air and Divert it away from the engine. I hope that helped. Anyway sounds like you are GTG.

Yes that answers some questions. I have a dual stage boost controller set at 19 for the high and 13 for the low but they both seem to do the same readings so Im not sure that it is working right. Imight just try a regular MBC and see how that goes. Thanks for the help.
