Default boost gauge question

Going to be installing a boost gauge. It needs a switched 12v and a constant 12v, whats the difference between these? Is the constant on even with the car off? Thinking about using fuse add a circuts to wire it, anyone know what fuses i can use for those sources? TIA

You'll want to find a outlet that turns on when the key is on. Not started . As for a fuse u pry don't need a big one. Maybe a 10-15
???? Is this a digital boost gage? Cuz there should only be. Power and ground? The ones iv seen??

this is a simple problem, tap power from your lights! boo ya!

if its electronic and you need 12v constant then tap from your radio, otherwise you dont want to connect anything to 12v constant unless you absolutely need to.

i had a gauge like that, you could change background colors, 12v constant was used to remember your setting, otherwise it'd default to cycling thru all the colors (ghey).

Multimeter is your friend, start probing wires around your headlight switch. Big fat red one is constant 12v, you're on your own for switched power.

btw, the constant 12v my gauge used was so little draw there was no issue. If this is the case, I wouldn't worry too much about keefboz's warning. Something like a radio... I'd avoid constant power if you can, something like that will kill your battery in a couple days if you don't use your car on a daily basis.

Thats what it is, a guage which you can change background colors. So Im hoping its designed that its so little draw that it wont kill your battery.

for the switched you should be able to get from the dimmer switch so u can adjust brightness. Im not sure how yours is setup, but its worth a try its a nice feature to have to be able to adjust up and down with the rest of the lights. I believe its the grey/blue wire on the back of dimmer switch you tap into.

Your line that goes to the DV is pretty much the easiest brother.
