no....I have 93 and run 91. Actually that would be a little high, vacuum is - pressure. You should eventually swap the rubber hoses for silicon hoses......they hold up a whole lot better !!!

I know what u mean.....I'm waiting to do the silicon until I do the engine build, no point doing it now if i'm just gonna tear apart the engine soon.

So guys, with these leaks, how often does end up NOT being the hoses themselves (perhaps the manifold or something else?)

After I had my head work done... the mechanic I had do the work didn't bother to take off the old bits of gasket off the intake manifold after installing it to the new head. Needless to say I had a huge air leak. There's so many places it could be that you really need to pressure test the system to be sure. Make sure that you cap or crimp the pcv line so ait doesn't leak back into the block.

Here is something interesting I discovered. I actually noticed it a few weeks ago and thought nothing of it. It looks like if I start the car with the engine stone cold, I can get a few boosts of about 20 psi. After that it starts behaving as stated above.

Could this be the ecu putting the car in limp mode (I dont have any codes however). If this simply a leak that only appears once the engine warms up slightly. (If so, is this more likly to be an manifold for example or still a hose issue.. or 50/50? )..

I wonder what a shop charges for a smoke test, that might just be easier..

Everything "with the exception of water" expands when it warm and gets hot, it could be anything really. Personnaly I wouldn't run the car like that cold, theres a reason the thermostat opens at a certain temp., when its cold theres slop between parts as it warms up everything comes into tolerance !!!

Odd. Today my boost just suddenly returned to normal for half minute on the highway (20 psi),, then back to 10psi.. at full opporating temperature. Strange.
