Default Brake Lights

Audi TT 2003

I hit my brakes, and my car does brake, but my brake lights do not work. I mean usually the light sensors come on to let me know a light bulb is out, but does it make sense that both would blow at the same time and a sensor wouldn't pick it up? Do you think this could be a fuse or possibly an electrical issue. All other lights are fine it's just the brake lights do not come on when i depress the brake pedal.

brake switch is probably stuck. look under the dash. Theres a plunger style switch that the brake would keep depressed when you're not using it. They can get cruddy with dirt and stick, or sometimes just go bad entirely.

I don't think you would get a bulb out indication if the brake switch was broken - it wouldn't know you were braking... Change the bulbs.

think he's sayin usually the light out warning would come on, but he's not getting brake lights or a light out warning. that tells me its the switch.
