Default a/c quit, then engine overheated

a/c quit blowing cold, everything ok til I got off the highway, got caught in traffic, engine quickly overheated. cooling fans apparently not running. Help!!!!!!!

Have you checked the fuses?

which fuse do you think it'll be? I looked at the fuse list and none of them seem to be relevant.

Check the fuses on top of the battery. You'll have to take the battery cover off.

If the those fuses are fine, I'd start leaning towards the fan control module. Which is located underneath the battery. I'm fairly sure the part can be bought at world impex if need be.

Once again, you guys are awesome in your knowledge of the tt. It was one of the fuses in that little box on top of the battery. I swapped it out and the cooling fans run and the a/c is blowing cold. Now, what caused the fuse to blow? I did recently have to crank the motor a lot longer than usual to get it to start after letting it sit for about a week. Maybe that's what blew the fuse.
