Hi all - I need to get new brake pads and while calling around, a technician said that I should change the brake rotor because when pad wears out, the rotor is about worn too. Is this true?

 

You should be able to get atleast 2 pad lifes out of a rotor. When the first pad is worn, a machine shop will "turn" the rotor making it smooth for the new pads. This is ofcourse unless you have severly uneven worn pads. If ther is a giant grove in them or are to thin, they need to be replaced. If you are not sure or dont want to have downtime to find out, just order some new rotors, the really arent that expensive
