Default Check engine light problem!

Hey everyone. Here is my problem. I was driving my car in a parking lot while it was raining. I didn't see that someone had pulled the cover off of the drain in the middle and I hit the hole. HARD! Now my Check engine lite is on and Autozone pulled the code "P1296 Milti-faults- bank 2- with low side shorts" I pulled the battery for about 3 hours and the light turned of for several days but is on again. When I called the Audi dealership, they wanted a crap load of money just to see what the code was, even though I told them what it was.

Does anybody have an idea of what it could be. Someone was telling me it might be an oxygen sensor, which makes sence, but when I climbed under the car everything looked fine.

Any help would be great! Thank you in advance!
Chris

when you hit the whole it sounds like your o2 sensor hit the ground. I would check it again for damage to the sensor or wires going into it. I bet you damaged the sensor or the exhaust bung around it or even somewhere around the cat.

Thanks! I will look again. The sensor looks like it is too far above the frame to hit the ground, but that doesn't mean anything. Thank you CincyTT!

It's likely that your exhaust impacted the ground and drove the O2 sensor into the frame. There is also a small plastic cover on the pass side under the car that the both sensors connect to the lead going up to the ECU. It's possible that the wires or connectors were crushed there as well.
