I ended up spending $750 on mine because REVO hosed my ECU with their trail program and then I decided to purchase GIAC so that basically included a new ECU. Are you purchasing another ECU with the program or getting yours flashed? If you're getting it flashed then use one of the shops that offer it through the mail and save yourself $300 bucks. You can rent a low end eco car for 3 days if you need to and still come out ahead.
Are you talking about the engine actually overheating or the turbo getting heat soaked?

chips will give you 20-30hp and 30-40ftlbs
Also the engine will run fine, turbo will be fine, just that the intercooler will be heatsoaked much faster and often and the stock dv will wear faster due to the extra pre-ic heat and crappy location.

Overseas where?
Your other option is to either remove your ECU and overnight it to GIAC, REVO, APR etc... and have them overnight it back; or... you could pay an additional couple hundred dollars and just order a preloaded ECU, have them mail it to you; and install the ECU yourself. It really isn't hard to install.
