Default Chipping an '04 225 TT

First post here, so hopefully won't be too flamed.

I see a few posts regarding chipping the TT. Can anyone make a suggestion as far as chipping this car? Which Chip? What kind of gains can I expect? Performance versus reliability?

Thanks

hi 2001f4s, welcome to the forum. Look for a chip dealer that is close to your house, it makes it much easier.

I went to APR. they have an extensive dealer network and I couldn't be more pleased with the improvement the chip made for me. I'm a WRX specialist and my Audi knowledge is a bit limited, but APR is supposed to be one of the best in the field. I believe Imola recommended them to me - thanks Imola.

As far as the APR system goes, the beauty part is, you can switch back to the stock settings when you go for warranty work.

Yes APR is one of the biggest in Audi's, next would be GIAC.

Thanks for the info on APR.
Are the chips easily installed?

Thanks

They need to remove your ECU and solder it in place. Screws securing the cover on the ECU are ground off as well. while the ECU is easily removed, I'm not much at soldering and working with printed circuit boards. I'm pretty sure you'd want the APR dealer to do the install.

If you look at the APR site, you're looking at about 260 hp 260 tq.

Pricing from my local dealer for the chip installed is the same price as APR is selling just the chip on their site. At that price I will definitely have them install it.

Thanks for the help

Well I ended up with the Revo. Seems to work great. Very smooth delivery of power. Turbo seems to kick in at a lower RPM. Seems to pull all the way to redline. More torque at launch.

Thanks to you all for your input.

I too just got Revo'ed and I love it. The Direct Port Programming was a lot easier than pulling the ECU, sending it in, having them take it apart and solder the chip in, then send it back etc etc..
With the Revo and the help of one of their SPS modules you can also revert back to stock in about 10 seconds for times you want to take it to the dealer. It is VAG undetectable and will not Void
your warranty. Then when you get it back switch back to one of the selected performance programs depending on your available Octane fuel. If you get the SPS2 or SPS3 module you also have
the benefit of additional Theft protection where even with a key the thief can not start your car. Very nice!

And more importantly the program works. I was amazed how much quicker the boost came in and it almost eliminated any of the Turbo lag that was there before. Truly amazing!
I would recommend an aftermarket Diverter Valve such as the Forge or Hyperboost DV. Stay away from knock offs. You get what you pay for. I have a Hyperboost and it helps a lot
when you are chipped or in my case flashed or programmed. Less Boost bleed off and leakage like from the stock Bosch DV.

I do highly recommend the Revo way over the chipped way especially if you are under warranty. The dealer will detect the chip and it will void your warranty.
