If you are cleaning the inside, just spray it with some TB cleaner. It will remove all the oil instantly and dry fast and with no residue

Or soak in kerosene if it looks real nasty. It'll leave a light oily film that'll collect dirt and reduce efficiency, so finish with TB cleaner anyway.

I have a 35 gallon parts washer, and a 2.5 gallon parts washer. Although super expensive to fill, its great to have. Wanted to top off my tank last year, 5 gallons of cleaner was close to $70 at advance! At that price, im better off just filling it with kerosene! BTW, water based cleaner/ the stuff you can cut with water to dilute (simple green, purple power, etc), that stuff eats up aluminum, dont use that unless its diluted like 10:1.

gasoline works good......but i'd rather put gas in the tank with these prices. you can soak it in hot soapy water and then give it a good rinse.
