Default Curious...

I had the thermostat installed today, and I am just wondering how warm your TT's run. Before it was installed, I would usually sit at the halfway point...now when I am at a light, or stopped...the temp goes to just under the first line on the hot side. it usually just stays there until I start driving then it goes back to halfway.

So I am just wondering how your temp gauges read.

depends on how I drive and if I have heater/AC running. In the winter time when I have heater running, I am always 1 tick below half-way point. Summer time, if the AC is running, it's always at half-way point. If it's a nice weather and AC/Fan is not running, then it will be at 1 tick above half-way point during stop.

Did you recently have a new water pump put in? Look at the HVAC block 49 and see what temp it says.

Are you still running on theoriginal timing belt/water pump? Some cracked fins on the plastic impeller on the water pump could be causing that. Could also be a faulty newthermostat. I dont know just guessing at this point. I was also going to say that if you replaced the water pump with the new metal impeller kind I know people are saying that they are less efficient at gpm than the old one. If yoy have the two side by side it's understandable, as the metal one has less surface impellerarea to pump with.

LOL!! You might as well be speaking chinese...I have no idea what youre talking about!! As far as I know it is the original timing belt and water pump. But, they said the water pump was operating fine and everything was in working order...I have to take it in for a 35,000 mile service anyways, so I'll see what they say then.

Its funny though, because when I bought the car in July, it was doing the same thing over the summer...then kinda calmed down and its been at the halfway mark ever since....so I'm just wondering if one tick past half is normal.

HVAC is the control you use to adjust your climate control. If you hold the return and up buttons at the same time then you will get into the controls. Turn the temp **** until you get to 49 and then hit the return control again. This will display coolant temp in degrees celcius.

What's funny is apparently my middle mark on my carranges from 80c all the way to 100c. Anything above 100c and the needle goes up from the middle. Whenever it hits 102c on the dot something kicks in and it goes right back to 96c and back to the middle mark. Repeat the whole process over again. It does this randomly.
