Default Drivetrain loss: HP & Torque ?

Whats the estimated drivetrain loss on a FWD TT in % for HP and Torque?

Might as well answer for AWD owners too so this isn't all about Nate, Murder and Myself (and any other FWD owners here... that I forgot about.)

The reason I ask is I'm thinking I just outgrew my clutch with the Unitronic remap.

Depends on the dyno, but its usually abot 12% for fwd and awd 18-20% (haldex barely counts since its always changing %'s). The awd cars could see less loss than torsen cars since they could be 20% rear power one sec and like 40% rear in the next 1/10 sec.

I subtract 1/5th for drivetrain loss as a rule of thumb.

hey can you simplify the last sentence since that went way over my head

and the subaru guys lose about 25%, or at least they claim ( as per 3 awd dynos around here , which are all subaru)

you are losing about 20 to 25 percent. and i thought i told you to do a better clutch when i installed it. but thats a cool probem the unitronic remap is outpowering your clutch.....i guess you should of went apr, revo,or giac, the clutch would be fine.

I'm not losing 20-25%.. I hope that was answering Durtty.

I did the calcs and it looks like I should be within the clutch's capabilities. Maybe I'll be fine. Who knows.

again, drivetrain loss depends on the dyno, it varies from dyno to dyno and from elevation to elevation, etc. But the comment quoted means that since the power is always being split at varing ratios between front and rear, the drivetrain loss wont always be constant. Thats why everytime someone dynos the car in awd mode the chart is far from linear full of peaks and valleys. Its basically the car adding and subtracting power to the rears back in forth in fractions of a sec over and over again.
