Default ebay HID vs. Expensive HID?

any experience and inputs on both? im planning to buy one for my TT.

Don't we all get HIDs? How do we know what we have?

i think pre 03 (probably wrong year) you had to buy the performance package to get them. With that you would get the 6 spoke wheels, hid and quattro i believe. I remember when i was shopping tt's i made sure i had a 225 or performance package. It was an option just like the bose system

i have an 01 180 and it was an option for mine i made sure i got

those are the same ballast and bulbs that xtremehids.com uses and they are half the price.

my headlight recently just went out. Got a gas discharge d2s bulb to replace it (~$80 out the door). The light is white-yellow (looks like 5000k) color compared to my other headlight which is a white-blue (6000k) color. Not sure why they're a different color being that they should be the same bulb.

yeah , i dont have one. i was looking at my headlights and no ballast and i removed the low beams and its just a hallogen bulb.

It looks like lower Temp because it probably is. Most aftermarket bulbs these days are made for 55w ballasts, while our stock HIDs have 35w units. I you push more power through a bulb it's going to light up 'bluer', less and it'll look more yellow.
