So once a week my ESP light stays on when the car turns on. When i turn off and on gaian, the light is gone back to normal operation. i was told this is due to a falty MAF sensor (Which was changed at 40k, not 74k). Would audi cover it or is it not the MAF?

 

this happened to me too, happened every once in a while then stopped... i never changed my MAF

 

What correlation is there between traction control (ESP), and air metering(MAF)?

None that I can think of.

I dunno, maybe you were right in reading it wrong. EPC makes more sense, although I still don't see why a bad maf would cause it.

 

I had the same problem. My EPS light was on so I took it to Audi.Audi said theMAF was out of calibration.It didntmake sence to me, but igot anewMAF, put it in: and the light went off.

I had the ESP light on intermittently for several months. Thin film of oil on the MAF sensor, cleaned it with alcohol about two months ago, no problems since.
You'll find that if you disconnect the MAF completely, the ESP light will come on constantly.
