Buying a TT... HELP!
Ok, i might be buying a 2000 TT (180hp) quatro. Heres the thing... It has 120,000 miles on it... But wait theres more...
The timing belt broke and some of the valves got bent, so the dealership replaced the head and valves, got a new water pump, and installed a new timing belt... the motor seems to run fine...
All of the "RECALL" work was JUST done... Lower control arms, wing, sway bar... etc...
They are asking for $9,900.
Is there anything i should be wary of when i go to look at it again this weekend? I.E. - turbo, signs of abuse, mods, etc...
I used to have a 2004 WRX STi (with a ton of work done to it... 20g turbo, water meth injection... etc...) so i would love a new turbo awd car to work on and drive, but i want to make sure i'm not screwing myself over and buying a lemon. I know the germans arent exactly known for their reliability...
also, how long does the stock turbo typically last? Stock clutch as well...?
Thanks for all your help guys, if all goes well, i hope to join the family...

I could be wrong but that doesn't sound so hot to me.....
I picked a 01 225q w/nav/full packagein Jan 07, it was a corp exec lease, had only 45 or 47k on it. Since it was a corp lease all the maintenance was a go and it was a Audi certified used vehicle. I picked it up for around 15k. Maybe I just walked into a good deal but I think you can do much better then the offer you have before you if you search around.
I did however have to replace my front driver axle (after installing coilovers) in sept for $550. Other than that she is in tip top shape.
Looked at your zip code and look whatI found....there's even a 225 with way less miles for just 3k more.

I mean... The top end was just fully rebuilt and everything else was brought up to spec... So on one hand i feel like it would be ok... but on the other hand... im a little scared...
Unfortunatly i dont have an extra 3 grand to spend... if i did, i would be going for an even better TT...

Yeah i had an STi for about two years... It was pretty amazing. I had to sell it to finance my Race Bike (bikes are my real passion... the car helps me get my kicks on the street). So i have been driving around an automatic 2001 maxima (sooooooo lame...) and i can trade it in with like 900 bucks and get the TT. I'm really good with working on Cars and Bike and can even fabricate parts (had to do a lot of fabrication on the Ducati) so i'm ok with a few repairs on the TT here and there (everything except a full engine rebuild complete with internals). I did all the work on the STi myself including the turbo, meth, and the tuning... so i know my way around the garage and cars pretty well... It was sad to see the 400awp 450awtq go, so any hopes of having SOMETHING turbo and AWD would be a great way to ease my pain... Let me know if you guys think this is an OK deal to get into and what i should be cautious of... Thanks.
