Does anybody drive there car with the ESP turned off on a regular basis? What exactly does this do? Does it handle better?

 

I always turn it off.

It's prettyembarrasinggetting pissed off, dropping the clutch and taking off only to have it kick in andstudder like you don't know how to drive.

 

I just got my TT yesterday, so forgive my ignorance, but ESP is off if the little orange light in the gauge cluster is on, right?

 

Yes, unless you have a 2000 fwd, then its ASR and the 2000 quattros dont have that option

 

I've got the 2000 Quattro with ESP. Light on = ESP off then!

If you have a 2000 quattro, you dont have the ability to turn the asr/esp (2000 is ASR) off. Its just looks like a button, but its not

 

You can't turn it off, because its not there.

My 01 225 doesn't have ESP either.

 

My 2000 quattro doesn't have anything but quattro!

 

its there, you just cant control it....but like you would need to

Section 3:

The ASR respectively ESP is switched on automatically when the engine is started. If required, it can also be switched on and off manually by briefly pressing the switch (by which it refers to the "ESP" button next to the hazard light button on my dash).

When the system is switched off, the warning light comes on.

Section 4 (Paragraphs 5 & 6):

The system can be activated or deactivated by pressing the switch.

The warning light comes on when they system is switched off.

Section 5:

The Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) and Electronic Differential Lock (EDL) are still functioning even if the ESP is switched off.


Are we talking about the same thing?
