Default Exhaust flow

Does anybody know the max flow rate coming out the exhaust on a 225? Failing that, what is the air flow into the engine @ 20 psi? Thinking of a unique exhaust mod.
Thanks

This would be a silly idea.

pipe dimensions are very important they are stepped from front to rear to vent the system Ie:- does a 3"through pipe work and the answer is no because it causes a sub vortex ( thats air drawn back in by the exhaust because of the size of the pipe so its down to measurement of the engine performance level ( and that's a long story )[:-]

Dave, you are thinking NA and not turboed. Post turbo, you want 0 restrictions. So bigger is better to a point. After a certain point, you just get noise.

Right, the turbo itself provides all of the backpressure needed for the engine to run. Thinking of some combo of cooling/forcing to get the gases out of the system without the noise of a wide open setup.

They make things things that muffle the sound... i cant think of the name right now....hhmmm.

But seriously, just get a 2.5 or 2.75" cat back with a res and a muffler and it will be quite. If you want more flow, get a electronic cutout that you can open when you feel the need. Go to youtube and listen to the blueflame and eurojet kits, they are not overly loud and dont drone

Right, want to try something new/innovative. Might not work at all and then I can fall back on the blueflame etc. Been thinking alot about air/liquid intercoolers and water jackets. Mind drifted toward exhaust. I actually love the sound of the aftermarket exhausts, but I enjoy DIYing new approaches.

But you have it backwards. HOT air moves faster than cool air. I just think you are trying to reinvent the wheel with a triangle.

Meh, I'll go to work with my triangle then.
