Is the fan control module the same as the fan rely?

Update on my audi A6 2002 with a fan problem, i found a relay module from a scrapyard and now the fans work fine. I replaced it myself, had to join 4 wires and plug the module in and it now works fine. I would recommend trying to fit this part yourself, its a ten minute job. Save youalto of money, i got the used module for 30e, 300e in audi new, and probably another 150-200e on garage fees so around 400e or so saved. Oh just to mention that when the module was broke, my car gave out signals as if the thermostat, water pump and what looked like a clogged rad were all faulty but because the fans could not cool the coolant, it made these parts not function properly so just beware of the fans when checking why your audi is overheating .

Ebay Seller automartint914
I just wanted to warn folks about this ebay seller automartint914
I bought a fan control module from him and it lasted about a week before it started making my fan run constantly. I even unplugged the aux fan and something was till buzzing. I removed the piece of junk and put the old one back on cause it ran my battery down.
Long story short this **** ebay seller said he would sent a replacement part because he was claiming a 90 warranty. He never sent anything and wouldn't you guess no replies to my emails.
Long story short I'm out $50.00
don't buy from automartint914 on ebay

2003 tt with b oth radiator fans inop
I did the same as you, I replaced the fan control module the fan relay and radiator temp sensor but still fans didn't work. Read else where on this site about taking apart the fan control unit and cleaning the two contact points inside. I did this and it worked, I used fine grit sand paper to clean the points and in stalled it and it worked. I reinstalled the new fan control unit and it didn't work, reinstalled the old fan control unit that I cleaned and it work.
