I have had a clunking sound in the front for some time on my 2001 TT. One Audi dealer couldn't hear the noise and couldn't find a problem. I just recently had the oil changed (at a different dealer) and was told that the front strut mounts are bad. Can these be seen without taking everything apart? How difficult are these to change and are any special tools required? Or is this something I might have to go to the dealer for?

 

you want someone who knows a bit as the strut mounts are really not fun .... you may want to decide if it is time to change the struts with coil overs or new springs as you have to remove the exsisting ones first as the struts are on the top in the fender wells wheels come off fender liner comes off

would not be a bad time for ball joints / bushings / ARB bushings or change out......
