is this a good deal??
Hi, I am in the market for a new used vehicle and i found a 2001 tt quattro on CL that is 4,500$$. I was told a little about the car, 147k miles, oil pan replaced 6 months ago water pump 3 months and recently passed emissions. Im going for a test drive soon anything i should look for? From the pics it looks to be in fantastic shape and well taken care of.

On the subject of maintenance schedules and service histories - I did see audi has something posted to their web site indexed by the model year of the vehicle...
Question for whomever here may now - is there a TT Roadster specific one posted here in this forum or at another web link? Sorry if the question sounds naive. Still new here.

randomid123 - Per my price range (less than $9K, or $8K if I am lucky in negotiations) and mileage targets (less than 100K, preferably 75K - 85K range), I seem to be landing in the neighborhood of a 2005 or 2006 TT convertible.
Most of the 2001 - 2003 TT's that I see are all higher mileage than I would really care to have to consider. And anything from 2007 and onward seems to be out of my price range.
Yes, I am looking for a maintenance schedule for a TT roadster. From reading these posts, I can see that owning one of these cars is only really feasible by NOT running to an Audi dealership every time there is an issue. There are local Audi / BMW / Mercedes garages in my area (greater NJ/NY vicinity), but not sure if they are just as bad.
Thanks in advance, any information you can share, I appreciate it...

theFonz - I just picked up a 2005 Audi TT Quattro Roadster 3.2L, with 68,xxx miles on it
There is another engine, the 1.8T (Turbo), I only have information about the 3.2L engine.
I can give you more information as you narrow your search on your Audi TT, especially if it is has a 3.2L engine.
I have enjoyed every minute I have driven my new ride .
Good luck with your search.

randomid - Best of luck in that new ride you picked up!
Thanks for the suggestion about the engines (very much so) - I've omitted my focus on that (apparently foolishly) when searching... I assume the 3.2L is typically more costly than a 1.8L (Turbo)?
As far as purchase candidates, it's getting more difficult, I see pricing on the more attractive options actually going back up a bit, maybe cause the weather is beginning to turn for the better, and the used car salesman trying to get a few more Benjamins in-pocket!
Will probably have to start looking at private sellers instead of dealers, but that may be a good thing anyways cause of the maintenance record questions.
