You have to remove the bumper if you want to save the grill. If you are replacing the grill and do not care about the stock one, just cut it apart and remove it, then just pop the new one in place. I changed to a badgless one in about 20 minutes.

I had to take my bumper off to install my FK grille. I just couldn't quite get the tabs to latch in place w/o some serious pressure that would have just caved my bumper in if I couldn't press from the back side as well. Also, I wasn't about to try unbolting only the top of the bumper and sticking my arms in there. That **** gets old when you're screwing with something you can't quite see, and its scratching up your arms as you try.

If you need directions for removing the bumper, most screws are pretty easy, 4 nuts are hard to see/get to. 2 on each side, access from the wheel well. Basically, bumper has 2 studs to pull it in tight to the body on either side. Pull those nuts (and the rest of the screws across the top/bottom of the bumper) and then pull the whole thing forward. It'll probably fight you a little bit, but some elbow grease fixes that.
