Default Head Gasket issues?

Hi all.

So I'm having engine issues, firstly I've got a strong odor of coolant from the back left side of the engine block. My coolant level hasn't dropped much, but I am getting a little white smoke. I did have a pressure test done and the shop said it was fine. However I don't much trust them. They aren't too bright. Also my low oil light came on and I was virtually empty, a quart of oil just got me to 1/3 up the ok level on the dip stick. However I'm not leaking oil that I can see on the ground, and I don't have any blue-ish smoke out my exhaust. Could the lack of oil be related to a head gasket as well as the coolant smell? Or did the shop just fail to add enough oil last time I got my oil changed, sometime in September.

I rebuilt an old Porsche 944 engine and want to do this myself as well since I don't feel like dropping 1500 bucks on 100 dollars worth of parts. Does anyone know where I could find a DIY guide online for the TT 1.8Q engine?

Thanks
Jay

If you dont have oil in the coolant, you doubtfully have a bad headgasket. They really dont go bad on these cars, even making 500+ whp. The coolant line attaches to the block on the spot you are talking about. The bolt could have come loose or need a new washer. You may want to take a look. As for the oil, if you dont see a leak anywhere, you may have a bad pcv and getting a bunch of blow by.
