My passenger side light that I got off ebay has been acting up. More recently. I have to turn off the car and turn it back on. Kind of sucks when you dont know if your going to get pulled over after a couple drinks. I didnt go out on Christmas Eve because of the light issue.

AudiTT 2003
55000 miles

My passenger side light got a similar problem lately: I have been two times to the car dealer and already paid an insane price (900$) for the replacement of the headlight bulb(Xenon Headlamp) the first time and then a control unit (which I believe is the ballast / ignitor: gray square object) . The problem is still appearing sporadically and mostly when the car is not warm up.

This looks like sttjackett got the right answer which leads me to the following questions:
- What the name of the connectors I need to change ? only the headlamps connectors?
- Does anyone have experimented such bad customer service with Audi Dealer? What action can I do to get some reimbursments someone might be aware of?

Thanks!

and felt I have been totally spoiled by the Audi dealers :-(

Man you totally got raped... It's an easy fix and the ballast and ignitors are cheap and easy to install if you don't go oem.

I'd only be interested in one (passenger side). Is it new/used, in good working condition? Also, is it the bosch ignitor?

and to mikecay - dealer told me the same thing... theytold me my ignitor was bad, quoted me $700, and i damn near died. obviously i told them no, and figured i would deal with this one on my own. sorry you had to deal with that too

my passenger side light flickers and flickers and eventually goes out.

then i turn the light off and back on and its fine for another 5 - 10 mins. it is very annoying. been ignoring it like the damn hazard signal relay that buzzes every now and again.

is this issue attributed to the ignitor? i was thinking lose connection, but the fact i can just turn on and off to fix problem seems a lil fishy.

well my prob is a bit different... once the light is on, there's no flickering and it stays on until i manually turn off the lights. my issue is that sometimes when i turn on my headlights, the passenger one just won't turn on. i've tried turning the lights off and then re-turning them on again and sometimes that will get the right side to turn on, sometimes it won't. ironically, the light chooses NEVER to work if i've had a drink... maybe my TT is a tranformer... haha j/k.

anyway, my audi dealer seems to think it's the ignitor and I trust their judgement since I know them pretty well now and they haven't steered me the wrong way yet (knock on wood). your prob however, might not be the ignitor, maybe a dirty connection?
