I have a 02 225 engine code AMU. I don't know if anyones remembers but i thought i blow the head gasket. well it's alot worse then that. lets see i cracked my head in 3 different places according to the machine shop. i bent 3 valves and we the last place that worked on my car fu**ed my car up according to the people that are working on my car now!! so i wanted to know what heads will work on my car and which ones would be better. i've always heard the passat head is the best cus it has bigger ports and stuff. but i really don't have money since i'm about 2500 in the hole and now i gotta buy a head. can someone tell me prices and what ones fit and like my main thin is if i us a jetta head lets say it that weaker then mine?

 

All the 1.8T heads are 100% the same but the AEB heads from a 97-99.5 A4/Passat. So anything 2000+ will fit your car with no other mods made. One a stockish car, the AEB wont gain you much anyways. You should be able to find a junked 1.8T and get the head for cheap or find a used one on here or on vwvortex.com in the classifieds.

That one does need a new cam tensioner. If yours is good, you can swap it or buy a new one and since you have a AMU, they are just over $100

well i guess the shop that is workin on my car said they got one for 300 and they'll bring it to the machine shop and basic the head will be brand spankin new when their done new valves and the chain tensioner. so i guess i'm happy kinda pissed tho. i thought these cars had good engines. strong and all. guess not. or did i just get a pos one?? what you guys think.

 

You just said it was the shop that had your car previously that is at fault...
Don't blame it on the car if it was human error.

The TT gets a bad enough name from douchebags that DIY retarded mods and screw them up, then come here complaining about Audi instead of accepting the fault themselves. Don't make it worse by adding something your shop screwed up to Audi's resume.
