Check eng. light comes on. Codes scanner reads p0102 and p 1128. I noticed that the light goes off for a few hours every few days. Last night i cleaned the MAF sensor. I cant seem to find and vacume leaks.... But the car has no ***** at all when the light comes on. If i clear the code its fine and hauls @ss. Also my display in the clusted is missing lines and I keep seening the picture that looks like a skull and cross bone... Like a poison symbol. I know its not it but i dont have a manual to look for pictures like it. Then, when i shift out of 2nd over 5300 rpms its beeps at me. No clue what this is I have had the car for a week. 2000 180t fwd. 89k miles. Please help. Johnpeck@hotmail.com

 

well i dont know much about these cars yet but with the p1128 code it wasnt my MAF. i cleaned it and cleared the code and then the code came back on in about 25 miles. i also did a propane test and couldnt find any vacuum leaks either. it turned out that it was actually my diverter valve. check that along with checking for exhaust leaks. that is where seafoam can help. when you seafoam the car the exhaust should be very smokey. then you just inspect all of the exhaust piping and look for smoke blowing out. hope this could help you a little and good luck with your other problems. and i almost forgot, the clusters loose pixel lines all the time. it is a common problem with audi clusters. i am missing two lines myself. you need to buy a new cluster to fix it.

 

0102 is Mass or Volume Air Flow Circuit - Low input A and 1128 is Long Term Fuel Trim - System too Lean (Bank 1) B which is most likely related to the 0102 code. Cleaning the MAF sometimes works, but other times the MAF is just bad. The other symptoms you describe also point to the bad MAF, lack of power.

To verify that the MAF is the problem. Disconnect the MAF signal wire and take it out for a drive. With the MAF disconnected the ECU will use the default maps. If the performance improves then the MAF is bad and needs to be replaced.

 

The beeping upon shift at the top of 2nd sounds like your speed sensor alarm, and is completely unrelated to the CEL codes.

Basically its a programmable speed warning to help you avoid speeding tickets. I forget off the top of my head how to set/disable it, but I will go look it up for you in my manual if someone doesnt beat me to it.

 

thanks for the input.... Any word how to get the digital info center repaired. I cant see what it says. Also whats the best way to go to get struts i can find many options. Thanks guys you all have been very helpful.
